One of my favorite books is "In a People House" by Dr. Seuss.  It is the first book I ever learned to read when I was approximately 4 years old.  I took it everywhere with me and read it to my Grandmas, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.  I have realized that I remember a lot more details of my childhood than most people.  I don't know if I just remember, or if working with young children helps me remember.  I only know that I consider these memories a gift.  I believe they help me to understand and empathize with children in a deeper way.

I remember what it was like to miss my parents when I was at school, at summer camp or when staying with relatives.  I have been able to share my stories of missing people with children and been able to comfort them in that way.
